Blue Ridge Mountain

 Society

Welcome to Blue Ridge Mountain!

Over the next few years, you should look to Blue Ridge Mountain as a group of friends brought together by the challenges and triumphs of medical school.

You’ll be there side by side for a long but rewarding 18 months, seeing each other grow through embarrassing SP moments, passionate group discussions, and early morning TBLs.

Your society leaders, along with others, will also work hard to host relaxing and fun events throughout the years so we can spend some time together outside of school!

And don’t forget — societies span all four years, so you have the wisdom of many experienced medical students at your fingertips! Feel free to reach out to Blue Ridge Mountain members from other years if you need guidance.

We are all looking forward to an awesome time ahead!

Our Mascot: Wolves

The wolf is a symbol of guardianship, ritual, loyalty, and spirit. The wolf travels in a pack, and as such, wolves rely on each other to get things done!  They trust each other and work together for a common purpose.  Like the wolf, we are a family striving for a common purpose.  We rely on each other and support one another during our time here at VCU School of Medicine.

From Your Society Advisor:

Dr. Clifton Lee

Hello Blue Ridge Mountain society! I am most proud to serve you as your faculty advisor.  I am a pediatric hospitalist.  I am also the co-director of M3 Pediatric Clerkship so I will see all of you as you rotate into pediatrics.

I am a native Virginian.  I grew up in Virginia Beach (although not a beach bum).  I was an economics major at UVA (and still made it to medical school!).  I attended Medical College of Virginia (now known as VCU School of Medicine) in 1990 and stayed here for my pediatric residency.  After residency, I have practiced pediatrics in the Richmond area, and in 2011, I transitioned back to academic medicine by accepting the hospitalist position with CHoR (Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU).

I am happily married to Kimberly Lee, who is a clinical pharmacist here.  Together we have two human children (Megan and Jacob) who both attend Maggie Walker Governor’s School and Cody, who is mix of Australian Cattle Dog and a Mastiff (so likes to herd when awake but mostly lazy and likes to sleep).

I know I am biased, but Blue Ridge Mountain Society is the BEST!  My office is open always so feel free to contact me and drop by.  I am more than happy to chat about anything (especially Star Wars)!!
